Youth Brigades programme to be launched next month

Sri Lanka's most inventive and massive programme designed for the welfare of youth by the United National Front Government will be implemented next month, Minister of Labour Mahinda Samarasinghe said.

This is the first time in the history of Sri Lanka that a government has taken an initiative to form Youth Brigades throughout the country. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said that the Government has allocated 1,000 million rupees to set up Youth Brigades.

The aim of this programme is to provide solutions to the unemployment problem of youth in the country. It will also help to ease the frustration among Sri Lankan youths owing to the lack of opportunities to engage themselves in the country's development process activity.
