Richmina - Home of Happiness

Richmina, Home of Happiness for 100 elders, both male and female over 60 years of age and a Day Care Centre will come up on a land at Melwatta, Seeduwa, donated by Malkanthi Perera, her family and financial assistance will be given from her close friends here and abroad.

The foundation laying ceremony will be held on May 27 and applications from those seeking to become inmates of the Home will be accepted till May 30 this year.

The aim of the project is "to treat the elders for what they are today" and there will be no charges from those who become the inmates of the Home of Happiness. The first stage of the project Richmina situated very close to the Colombo - Negombo main road, will cover 10,000 sq.ft. of land and the cost of the building would be around Rs. two million. According to the organisers of the project the home will provide not only the basics of essentials like food and shelter but will also provide exclusive facilities for discussions, music, recreation, religious observances, medical care, out-door luncheons, dinners, live entertainment and the most intimate attention.
