Five shuttlers for B'desh tourney

Three men and two girls will represent the country at the Bangladesh Satellite Championship of the Asian Badminton Federation (ABF) to be staged in Dhaka next month (June).

A spokesman for the Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA) told the 'Sunday Observer' that they (the SLBA) decided to accept the invitation and the dates for trials to pick the side have not yet been fixed, as the national selectors Gave yet to be appointed by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Johnston Fernando.

Sri Lanka are also scheduled to send a team (boys and girls) for the Asian Junior Championship to be worked off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the end of July. The number of players too have yet to be decided upon by the SLBA.

Eraj Wijesinghe and Sumith Guruge are in China at present representing Sri Lanka at the annual general meeting of the International Badminton Federation .
