The Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) hosted the South Asian Inter - Schools Association (SAISA) Track and Field Championships from 20th to 22nd of April. The event was held at the sports field of the Overseas School of Colombo, located in Pelawatte, Battaramulla.

This year 9 schools participated, with teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It was the first time in several years that all these countries were represented. The winners were: First: The American Embassy School, New Delhi Second: The Overseas School of Colombo, and Third : The American International School, Dhaka.

Other participating schools were The American School of Bangladesh, Lincoln School, Katmandu, Lahore American School, The International School of Karachi, The International School of Islamabad and The American School of Bombay. SAISA events are held in different countries through the year. Sports activities include basketball, soccer and swimming.

Mr. Greg Hughes, Director of Sports of OSC said "It was an enjoyable meet and those who participated did so in good spirit". He said the entire event called for a lot of involvement on the part of parents, teachers and students. "OSC believes in fostering a community spirit and this was very evident as our students opened their homes to those from visiting teams who stayed with them as guests", he added. Mr Hughes also went on to say that OSC will be hosting the SAISA Swimming Championships to be held in October next year.
