Indian throwball team arrives today

An Indian throwball team will arrive in the island on today (Sunday) for a series of goodwill matches from May 20 to 23.

The opening ceremony will be at the Kurunegala (Maligapitiya grounds) at 5 p.m. on May 20 (Monday) where the chief guest will be the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Johnston Fernando and this will be followed by a match with the Kurunegala District throwball team.

The second match will be at Ratnapura against the Ratnapura District team at 10 a.m. on May 21 where the chief guests will be Susantha Punchinilame, the Minister of Small Holdings Development and the Chief Minister for Sabaragamuwa, Mohan Ellawala.

The third game will be in Colombo at the Sports Ministry grounds at Reid Avenue, Colombo 7, against the Colombo District throwball team at 5 p.m. on May 22, where the chief guest will be the Secretary to the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, N. G. Punchihewa.

The fourth and final game will be against the Free Trade Zone team at the FTZ Sports Association grounds at 10 a.m. on May 23 where the chief guest will be Shabbir A. I. Jafferjee.
