First IT company gains CSE listing

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) introduced a new sector, Information Technology, from last week with the listing of E-Channelling Ltd. This will be the 20th industry sector categorised by the CSE. The CSE publishes an index for each sector.

E-Channelling facilitates channelling of doctors through hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. This company has implemented an automated, centralised channeling system for the healthcare market that enables patients to book and pay for their doctors' appointments at banks, pharmacies and supermarkets and through the Internet.

The company's ordinary shares totalling 10.4 million worth Rs. 10 each were quoted on the Second Board of the CSE last week.

E-Channelling is the first IT company to obtain a listing on the CSE.
