Baggage bonus for Skywards members

Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of SriLankan Airlines and Emirates has announced the launch of a new programme - Skywards Baggage Bonus - for loyal small-scale business customers of SriLankan AirLines and Emirates resident in Sri Lanka and South India.

Members of the new Skywards Baggage Bonus programme can exchange Skywards Miles for free excess baggage when flying between Colombo and South India, the Maldives, the UAE and the Far East.

Skywards Baggage Bonus members automatically receive 25 free kilos of excess baggage over their ticketed limit whenever they fly SriLankan or Emirates.

In addition they can redeem Skywards Miles for free excess baggage for themselves and their nominees. For instance, on a journey from Chennai to Colombo, 3,000 Skywards Miles can be redeemed in exchange for an extra 10 free kilos of baggage. Or on a journey from the UAE to the Far East via Colombo, 10 free kilos can be obtained against 18,000 Skywards Miles.

Skywards Baggage Bonus members can also exchange Skywards Miles for tickets on Economy Class, obtain pre-assigned seating facilities, accrue Skywards Miles on SriLankan, Emirates, partner airlines and partner establishments, among several other benefits.

"We are constantly looking for ways and means of adding value to the product we offer customers with special needs," says SriLankan's Head of Commercial G. T. Jeyaseelan. "Within Skywards, we identified a group of frequent fliers whose preference is for free excess baggage and so we created Skywards Baggage Bonus to cater to their needs."

Frequent fliers of SriLankan and Emirates resident in Sri Lanka or South India who acquire a minimum of 25,000 tier miles or complete 25 sectors on SriLankan and/or Emirates in one calendar year are also eligible for Skywards Baggage Bonus membership. Skywards Gold and Silver members resident in Sri Lanka or South India too can opt to become members of Skywards Baggage Bonus on surrender of Silver and Gold membership.

Skywards has British Airways, Continental, South African Airways, All Nippon Airlines, Singapore Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Airlines as partner airlines and establishments such as Hertz, Sixt, Budget-Rent-A-Car, Citibank, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Arabian Adventures, Danat Dubai Cruises, Tai and Hilton as partner establishments.
