Stage is set for local pageant With the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism International pageant just 5 weeks away the excitement is hotting up and elaborate arrangements are being made to make this event a glittering show. All eyes will be focused on the contestants who will vie for the coveted crown in this popular beauty pageant.
Since the publication of the entry coupons the response from readers of the ANCL group of newspapers has been very encouraging. Plenty of entries from the outstations have been coming in, and judging from these numbers a high standard is expected. The Franchise Director of this pageant in Sri Lanka, Sebastian A. C. Perera has awarded the conducting of this pageant to former beauty queens Ms Yvonne D'Rozario and Ms Rukshani Fernando. With the experience they have acquired they are in a strong position to add both novelty and expertise to the beauty pageant. The Main Sponsors for the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism is an organisation that belongs to the well-known Hettigoda Group of Companies, pioneers in the field of Marketing Ayurvedic Health Products. Three Mini Pageants will be hosted at the Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort in Wadduwa which is 30 KM from Colombo. This resort has 50 spacious and well appointed rooms equipped with all modern facilities. It also has a very modern and up to date herbal therapy treatment unit. The Final Contestants will be given the opportunity to use the Ayurvedic Herbal Therapy Treatments Free of Charge in order that they will be able to continue such treatments to enhance their beauty and figure, in the future. The 3 Mini Pageants which will be hosted at Siddhalepa Health Resort on August 17 and 18 are Miss Talent, Miss Personality and Miss Photogenic. Apart from the Mini Pageants as a special feature there will be a glittering pageant on the August 17 where the Miss Siddhalepa Queen will be chosen and crowned at this venue. The other 3 titles will be hosted on August 18 at the same venue. These Mini Pageants will be held around the pool. The Main Pageant, selection of the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism will be hosted at the Ceylon Continental Hotel with a lavish sumptuous dinner dance on August 21. Entrance to the Dinner Dance will be by tickets, which is priced at Rs. 1500 per head. The crowning of the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism will be a very glamorous event and the band will be Cross Section with Antonette and Rodney accompanied by Maxy Rozairo and Ms Corrine Almeida.The winner, (Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Tourism) who will be crowned and sashed at Ceylon Continental will join the main stream of the 60 International Beauty Queens coming to Sri Lanka in the first week of September to participate at the World Finals. |
