Tyronne to take Indian 'concerns' to Islamabad Foreign Affairs Minister Tyronne Fernando is likely to make his own contribution towards reducing tensions between India and Pakistan when he communicates certain Indian concerns during his visit to Islamabad this week. The Foreign Minister departs for Islamabad this evening on a four-day official tour of Pakistan, Ministry sources told the Sunday Observer. According to diplomatic sources, Mr. Fernando has been briefed on the state of Indo-Pak relations during his meeting last week with visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha. The Indian Foreign Minister held official talks with Mr. Fernando during his two-day visit to Colombo. Mr. Sinha is understood to have informed the Foreign Minister that while "cross-border terrorism" in Kashmir had decreased in recent weeks, militant camps still existed in the area. Mr. Fernando is understood to have agreed to communicate to the Pakistani leadership India's concern about the continued existence of these militant camps. During his visit to Pakistan, Mr. Fernando will meet President Pervez Musharaff, Foreign Minister Inam Ul Haq and other leaders and will also tour the historic Khyber Pass on the Afghan border. |
