Singer-SriLankan Rugby sevens draw July 30

The draw for the 4th Singer-SriLankan International Rugby 7's of the Kandy Sports Club to be staged at the Bogambara Stadium on September 13, 14 and 15 will be held in Colombo on July 30. This is being sponsored by Singer (Sri Lanka) Limited and SriLankan Airlines with Connaissance de Ceylan as the co-sponsors.

SriLankan Airlines are also giving 180 return air tickets to the 15 overseas teams which includes 10 players and two officials per side. Flight itineraries have been already conveyed to all Rugby Unions of the countries who will be seen in action in Kandy.

La Kandyan Hotel is the official hotel for the tournament where all competing teams and officials will be accommodated. Also invited for this event are high officials from both the International Rugby Board (IRB) and Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) while numerous top referees, particularly from the Asian region, are down to blow. Numerous supporters of the overseas sides too are due in Kandy to witness this event.

The countries vying for honours are South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Kenya and Sri Lanka.

Schools (Under-19) 7's too is being worked off concurrently and the sides taking part are Dharmaraja, Kingswood, St. Anthony's, St. Sylvester's, Vidyartha, Trinity, S. Thomas', Royal, Isipatana, St. Peter's, Ananda, Thurstan, Wesley, Sabaragamuwa PRU, Ruhunu PRU and Combined Kurunegala - Matale PRU.

The Pool games of the schools 7's will be on September 13 and Pool games of the International 7's on September 14. The knock-out stages of both the Schools 7's and International 7's is on September 15 and before the main Cup final a women's 7's game too has been scheduled.

The organisers have arranged a colourful opening ceremony and various other events before the 7's and during the event as well.
