Army trounce Old Zahirians

Army scored a resounding 114 points (7 goals, 13 tries) to 8 (1 try, 1 penalty) win over the hapless Old Zahirians Sports Club at the Army grounds, Galle Face, yesterday.

It was one way traffic all the way with Army running circles round the Old Zahirians to score 58 points (4 goals, 6 tries) to Old Zahirians solitary penalty by N. Z. Zubaideen in the first half to end the half at 58-3.

After the short whistle, Army continued their try-orgy to finish with 7 goals and 13 tries.

Try scorers for the Army were: Chaminda Siriwardene (2), Vajira Jayatilleke (4), P. G. Rodrigo (1), K. S. Fernando (4), Udaya Kumara (2), Kapila Knowlton (3), N. Vijitha (1), Paul de Lye (2), Daminda Kathiwithanachchi (1). Conversions by Kapila Knowlton, Vajira Jayatilleke and Kumara. Rinoze Harris scored OZSC's solitary try.
