Ernst & Young Sri Lanka marks 95 years

Ernst and Young Sri Lanka, which commenced its accounting practice in 1907 as Ford and Co., marks 95 years of service this year.

Following successive mergers, Turquand Young's and Co. evolved into Ernst and Young, which name was adopted in 1990. In 1995 Ernst and Young Sri Lanka expanded its services to Maldives with a branch office in its capital Male.

Of the 10 geographic regions in which Ernst and Young Global operates, Ernst and Young Sri Lanka, along with China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia,Thailand, Taiwan and Guam belong to the Far East Regional practice.

To mark the 95th anniversary of Ernst and Young in Sri Lanka, the Far East Regional Board meeting was held in Colombo yesterday.

Ernst and Young International is one of the three largest accounting firms in the world.
