CAT network now open to all visa cardholders

Commercial Bank has opened its automated teller machine (ATM) network to all Visa, Visa Plus and Visa Electron cardholders. Visa cardholders, both domestic and foreign, can now access their accounts anywhere in the world, withdraw cash and verify their balance using Commercial Bank's CAT ATMs, which number 125.

Visa International, one of the largest payment systems in the world, has witnessed a steady increase in its local market share.

Visa-branded cards generate more than two trillion US dollars in annual volumes and more than one billion cards are accepted at nearly 24 million merchant locations in over 200 countries. The international network of ATMs number more than 750,000.

Visa is also a leader in Internet payments and e-commerce, with more than 50 per cent of electronic transactions being made with Visa cards.

Commercial Bank's Assistant General Manager (Operations), Sanath Bandaranayake said: "When non-account holders of Commercial Bank use our ATM network, they receive all the benefits their banks give them, plus far greater access due to the wide reach of our network which includes distant locations such as Jaffna, Ampara, Trincomalee and Vavuniya."
