Sel Lipi :

One year after

Swasthi Shree! Thus says his sacred Majesty, the gracious Great King, glorious Chakravarthi, King of the Kings of Maya, Pihiti and Ruhuna, Mahoora of the Vanniala-aeththo and ruler of all lands from Yapapatuna to Sampanthota:

It has come to the notice of the Maha Vasala that in Amerikaava in the past week, they have been in mourning for the victims of the suicide attack by dhandumonaras on the dhe-atalla 'World Trade Centre' in Navayorkpura, on the 11th day of Binara last year. For days, the carvers of sel-lipi, the proclamation tomtoms and the nilames of that mighty realm have mentioned little else.

Of course, there have been many thrasthavaadhi attacks before, which had been by and large ignored by Amerikaava's nilames and its chakravarthi. The destruction of the Buddha statues in the Bamiyan valley of Gandhara was scarcely heard of in Amerikaava. However, the loss of lives in the dhe-atalla had another side to it: the humiliation of the strongest adhirajya by a few men.

The attacks made by the dhandumonaras of Amerikaava against the very mountains of Gandhara (otherwise known as Afghanistan) had more to do with revenge for the hurt pride of an imperial power than justice for those killed. Hundreds of kotis of kahapanas were spent in dropping explosive yanthras on the poorest and most war-ravaged country in this world, to obtain vengeance for the 3,000-odd innocent victims of the dhe-atalla attack by the deaths of over 4,000 innocent Afghani civilians.

The war in Gandhara has been an unreal 'tele-visaya' war, watched by kotis in the comfort of their homes on their 'bahubootha petti'. The heroes set forth dressed in their plastic sannaaha (armour) armed with their ayudha (weapons), the most modern and magical available, flying in their dhandumonaras of war or riding their yudha-rathas (war chariots), looking like the armies of god Sakra setting out to attack the demonic asuras. It is as though the watchers are insulated from the war by a wall of crystal, for the suffering that it brings does not appear on the tele-visaya.

The vessapathis and merchants of Amerikaava did not suffer overmuch due to the attack on the dhe-atalla. They made kotis of kahapanas out of the grief of the 3,000 in Navayorkpura and the 4,000 in Gandhara, selling everything from dheshapremi (patriotic) songs to dheshapremi vasthras (garments) to dheshapremi moving pictures to dheshapremi dhandumonaras of war. Meanwhile, it seems that the alleged perpetrator of the dhe-atalla attack, the chaura leader Osama Laaden-ge-putha, together with his 'alkhaida' kalliya, remain at large.

Now it has come to the notice of the Maha Vasala that the chakravarthi of Amerikaava has, on the anniversary, sent forth his proclamation tomtoms to announce that the true enemy is not the Yonaka Osama. It seems the true enemy is a completely different Yonaka, Takritiye Sadhaam, chakravarthi of the land between the rivers. The logic applied in coming to this conclusion is of course the esoteric dhamma of the god-like bambara-vedhas of the dhavala mandhiraya, which is beyond the understanding of mere mortals.

The inhabitants of this island, after many years of war, are enjoying a brief respite. At the moment they are enjoying watching the clash of the willow - mugura - wielding yodhayas on the bahubootha pettiya, as the mallavayas of ten nations hurl pandhus at each other, in play. Are we, afterwards, to be treated to a different spectacle on the tele-visaya, as the real-life warriors of Amerikaava play grim yudha-keli against the Yonakas between the two rivers?

Swasthi Shree! This rock edict is made on this day of Ravi of the month of Binara of the Year of the Saka Era 1929.

- Gotabhaya.
