Golden Chimes
off to Doha

Last year when the Golden Chimes performed at Bahrain's Sri Lanka Club annual dance they were looking forward to another visit and so on the 24th of this month, the band will be leaving for Doha Qatar for two shows on September 26 and 27. The concerts have been organised by the Sri Lanka Cultural Association Doha whose President is Palitha Perera and Secretary Hemantha Mendis. The co-ordinator is Senerath de Alwis. The concert shows titled Binara Mihira will be staged in the town as well as in the industrial section of Doha. Besides Golden Chimes, the other featured singers will be Rajiv Sebastian, Latha Walpola and Jagath Wickremasinghe.

Golden Chimes who now count 32 years in the music industry are presently playing at Neptune on Saturdays. They have a change in personnel in that their regular bassist Chanaka Perera has moved out to manage the sound and other connected matters and the new bassist is the twenty one year old Eranjan Perera a talented musician for his age. Golden Chimes will return on September 30 to celebrate Lankika's birthday.

Happy returns Lankika!
