PM arrives in New York by N. M. Ameen in New York Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived in New York's John F. Kennedy Airport at 10.00 p.m. (New York time) on Friday. He was received by C. Mahendran, Sri Lanka mission's Special Representative to the United Nations. The Premier who is scheduled to brief world leaders on the peace process and development activities in Sri Lanka, will meet Chris Hatton, European External Relations Commissioner this morning, and Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiahuan in the afternoon. He will meet Mrs. Agnes Van Ardennevander Hoevenoy, Minister for Development Corporation, Netherlands in the evening. He will meet Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at the New York Palace Hotel, New York at 7.00 pm (New York time). The Prime Minster was accompanied by Interior Minister John Amaratunge, Labour Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, B. Nelson, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lal Dharmapriya Gamage, Secretary to the Prime Minister Bradman Weerakoon, Advisor to the Prime Minister R. Paskaralingam and other officials. |
