Lankan designer wins award Down Under Sri Lankan born Charisma Mohini Seneviratne has won the World Quality Commitment Gold Star award from Australia. Currently domiciled in Australia with her family, she was awarded a scholarship from the Curtin University of Technology in recognition of her talent in developing new technologies to reduce global warning. These technologies extend to clothes and baby wear. Charisma has worked with Zernike Holland and the Gronningan University, and was awarded an International patent for her innovative technology.She is now the proud owner of her own company. A specialist in Product Innovation and Design, this versatile designer says she is now reading for her PhD and diverting to Materials, Engineering. "I have several exciting ideas for new products that will reduce global warning. But I will produce them one at a time," she says. The Sri Lankan born designer hasn't forgotten her motherland either. she says, "I have big plans to forge some joint venture companies to promote my products here. I am already in touch with the BoI and the Sri Lankan government."Charisma is the wife of well known photographer, Thilak Seneviratne and a mother of two children who also live in Australia. She is the younger daughter of the late Sumithra and Syelvia Wickremasinghe. She is seen here with her award. It was given at a gala ceremony at the 19th European Convention in Paris, and accepted on her behalf by her son Nirosh de Alwis. |
