The next century
belong to the robots?

DJ Cas had his beginnings in spinning grooves for his friends' house parties. A product of St. Joseph's College Colombo he was an active figure behind the console at school functions and carnivals for request shows and discos. When he joined Sound EFX his first deejay venue was Bluez Club at Golden Sun, Wadduwa and now he has his own Club Dee Jay Entertainment and Production set up at Dehiwala.

Name: DJ Cas (Dilan Jayasuriya)
Status: Single. Has plans of getting spliced!
Fav colour: Blue

Trendy outfits: I prefer jeans and tee-shirts. I wear kinky clothes depending on the occasion and crowd.

Hair do's: Yes. I like spiky hair and tints.

Fav song of '80s/'90s: '80s Fresh - Kool & The Gang, '90s Love Is In The Air - John Paul Young

Music fav: R&B, house and trance. I play a lot of this music when I spin for house parties. I used to spin at Cascades, Riverina, Eden and Browns Beach, Negombo.

Embarrassing day: When my colleagues and I arrived late for a wedding reception.

There was a traffic block due to an accident and when we arrived the couple had come in and cut the cake. We could set up the equipment only when we arrived. It was awful!

Do you believe in love at first sight: Yes I do. But it doesn't happen always. You don't get what you see.

Qualities you like in a girl: She should support me in all what I'm doing DJing, and she should like my music. She should be able to cook. I like eating good food because I can cook and I experiment a lot.

How much of a party guy are you: 100 per cent. I love it.

Are you the first to hit the dance floor: Depends on the company I am with. I may want to dance but my friends may not.

How do your reject advances from girls: I play a song and dedicate it to them, to distract them. At the end of the day, if I've made everybody happy, it gives me a great feeling.

Are you superstitious: I don't believe in it.

What makes you happy in life: To make someone else happy in any way I can. Like getting a meal for a poor person or helping someone out in a crisis.

How many rude thoughts do you have in a day: Only when I get angry or when somebody breaks my trust and cheats me.

After a deejay gig what keeps you awake at night: If I'm tired I hit the sack. If not, I listen to soft music to relax. When I'm not deejaying of an evening, I listen to the radio or my CDs or watch a movie or go clubbing.

Where would you like to be most now: In Ibiza. From all around the world people gather to party, and if I can spin for a crowd like that, wow! it will make my day. What other profession would you like to be in: Advertising and production of events and shows.

What would you do if you ruled the world: Stop all the wars. Help the hunger stricken and the homeless.

What would you have liked to have been in a past life: An eagle. I love to fly high and be free.

Are you a dreamer by nature: Yes. When you dream you get ideas and when you build it up you get motivated and your dreams can come true. I became a club DJ thus.

Fav DJ: DJ Romesh. He pushed me into being what I am today.

Fav cartoon character: Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.

Worst hit song: Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus.

Fav rap star: Tu Pac Shakur.

Is it patter or segue for you: It all depends on the crowd. Teenagers want to dance continuously while some others feel good when we talk to them. We are able to interact better.

What do you think life would be like in the year 3000: Human beings will have micro chips to select music. No one will be travelling on roads. They will be flying. There will be more robots attending to the work. Who knows the next century may be theirs!
