by LESLIE FERNANDO

Old Thomians Swimming Club (OTSC) has come forward to host the Inter-Club Swimming Gala for the first time. The popular meet will be held on November 29 and 30 at the S. Thomas' College swimming pool Mt. Lavinia.

The inter-club gala will be conducted by NAASU and the Old Thomians Swimming Club has undertaken to provide all trophies and other awards according to a senior official of NAASU. S. Thomas' College will provide the swimming pool free of charge.

Entry forms are available at the NAASU office at Reid Avenue. Entries close on November 21. Qatar - venue for Asian meet?

The Asian Swimming Federation will meet shortly to select the country to host and organise the 2003 Asian Age Group Swimming and Diving Championships.

Normally this popular meet is held in June-July with record number of swimmers and divers participating. This year's meet was held in China. Three countries - Indonesia, Chinese Taipei and Qatar have bid to host the 2003 championships.

According to reliable sources, Qatar is strongly tipped to get the chance of hosting the 2003 championships. If Qatar is nominated, it will be the first time that a country from Middle-East will be holding a major swimming meet.

Chinese Taipei has conducted this meet on four occasions since 1986.
