Military top brass review peninsula security

Top personnel of the Security Forces went into long discussions in Palali yesterday with regard to the proposals made by the LTTE to carry weapons while transporting their VIPs.Admiral Daya Sandagiri, Commander of the Navy told the Sunday Observer that only one of the body guards of the LTTE VIPs will be allowed to carry a weapon, while escorting their VIPs by land ,sea or air, as agreed earlier.

However, the weapons will not be allowed to be carried in public but allowed in seperate vehicles which will be monitored by the SLMM authorities. he said. Limits of the eight entry points for fishermen to enter Kayts, Madagal, Karainagar and Punguditivu islands were also decided at the conference.Certain decisions with regard to the high security zones were also announced by Major General Sarath Fonseka.
