Misty at Frankfurt

With the dawn of the new millennium the fledging outfit 'Misty' commenced a successful era of performances which took them into the fast lane of popularity. Led by the versatile and dynamic young singer Rajitha Rupasinghe, Misty is now a group strong enough to be on par with other leading names on the scene.

The band left for Frankfurt early this week to perform at the SriLankan Airlines inaugural flight festivities in Germany, and Rajitha was happy to clue us in about the fact that Misty from Frankfurt will jet across to Dubai to perform at the Gala Dance on December 12 organised by the Lankan Lions. The new year 2003 augurs well for them, because when the month of March comes around Misty will perform in Australia a debut event the boys are looking forward to.

It all began to happen for Rajitha Rupasinghe in the year 1997 when he started off his musical career as duo entertainer in the resort of Girawa, Maldive Islands. Soon the duo evolved into a trio with regular performances at the lobby of the Galadari Hotel, and Rajitha in his cool and calm manner was determined to take his band four steps further.

With a wide repertoire of retro music, Misty began regular performances at Clancy's Irish Pub and in April this year, moved into being a dance band as well.

Now the long term dream of Rajitha has been realised. With his long term friends Marlon Mendis on lead guitar, Christopher Mant on bass, Dhammika Caldera handling guitar/keyboards with Dennis Alwis on drums and Rajitha handling the vocals, Misty performs regularly for dinner dances and functions and were at Bangalore in July this year for the inaugural flight festivities of SriLankan Airlines. We wish them success this time too.
