Eighteen teams for Travel Trade Beach Volleyball

Confifi Group are sponsoring the Travel Trade Sports Club's 14th and final event for the year, namely the Beach Volleyball to be held on December 14 (Saturday)in Beruwala.

This is the first time that the Travel Trade are engaging in Beach Volleyball and eighteen teams will be vying for honours with Sri Lankan Airlines who have fared best in the Travel Trade's Tournament this year will be favourites.

Confifi Group Hotels have been sponsoring Travel Trade Volleyball for the past five years and the Tournament will be conducted in three categories namely,Cup, Plate and Bowl.

The teams participating are Sri Lankan Airlines (2), Hotel Blue Oceanic (2), Hotel Riverina (2), Hotel Lanka Princess (2), Grand Oriental Hotel (1), Club Palm Garden (1), Golden Sun (2), Confifi Beach (1), Hotel Swanee (1), Hotel Serendib (1), Hotel Dolphin (2) and Hotel Neptune(1).

A total of 26 matches will be worked out with 9 teams in the Bowl and 9 in the Plate and Cup.

Special awards will be given to the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, Best player in the Plate and Bowl. Deshabandu Prof. M.T.A. Furkhan, Chairman of the Confifi Group will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.

It is envisaged that a World Beach Volleyball will be held in Sri Lanka next March.
