Peterites lay foundation for new sports club by Pelham Juriansz St.Peter's College, Bambalapitiya who are celebrating their 80th year and the 75th year of their Old Boys Association last Sunday laid the foundation Stone for a new Sports Complex at their Sports Grounds. Bishop Marius Peiris blessed the stones that were to begin work on the Sports Complex and about 38 old boys who had distinguished themselves in various sports, especially cricket, were amongst those who laid stones to begin work on the Complex. Rev. Fr. Felician Perera, Rector, St. Peter's was amongst the first to lay a stone along with Dr.L. de Alwis, Sriyan Senadhira, Marlon Ranasinghe, Susantha Fernando, Dave Ranasinghe, Jeff Felix and of course the President of the OBA, Mano Chanmugam, who has distinguished himself in the field of music. Following closely was former Chief of Traffic Police, Camillus Abeygoonewardene, immediate past President OBA, Gerry de Mel, the veteran Commentator Maurice Perera, Nivard Cabraal, Kumar Paul, and of course a legend of cricket at St.Peter's, Dion Walles. Winston Foenander, Capt. Lester Weiman, Dr Sibaji Felix, Munesh David, Chanaka Gunawardene, Romesh de Mel, veteran Journalist and former Chairman of Lake House, Lucien Rajakarunayake, Dunstan Fernando, Melville Assaw, big match winning skipper of the 1965 cricket team, Travis Fernando, Rohan Paulusz, Michael Elias, Brig. Nimal Jayasuriya, well renowned umpire Errol Seneviratne, Naresh Raymond, Harendra Sirisena, Dushantha Gunawardene and Haariz Rahman. |
