Travel Trade basketball today

The Travel Trade Sports Club are completing a successful year of Sports by conducting their 13th event for the year, namely the first ever 5-a-side Basketball Tournament to be held today at the De Mazenod College Courts, Kandana, commencing at 9 a.m. Airport Garden, Seeduwa are sponsoring the event having successfully sponsored the hardball cricket "sixes", and co-sponsoring the first ever fun Motor Rally. The Groups are as follows: Group "A" : Sri Lankan Airlines, Walkers/Whittalls, United Holidays and Riverina/Palm Garden.

Group B: Aitken Spence Travels, Maritime Travels, Emirates and Taj Airport Garden Hotel.

The Tournament will be conducted on a round -robin basis. At the completion of the league, the two top teams of each group will qualify for the criss-cross semi finals.

Their will be a "play-off" for the third place between the two losing semi finalists.

The Chief Guest will be Nirmo Thambapillai, the GM of Taj Airport Garden.
