ADB lends $56.5 m for road transport MANILA, Dec 21 (AFP) - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Saturday it had approved a soft loan of 56.5 million dollars to Sri Lanka to help renew its provincial roads and improve its transport efficiency. Manila-based ADB will also be providing two technical assistance grants amounting to 1.35 million dollars from the Japan Special Fund to finance a feasibility study of national highways development and to help create a reform and investment program for better transport services. The ADB project is intended to increase the portion of road works and construction contracted out to the domestic private sector. |
