BIMST-EC winds up on fine note The fifth BIMST-EC Ministerial level Meeting concluded on Friday on a successful note with member states agreeing unanimously to the proposal of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, to convene the conference as head of Government level. The first foreign ministerial level meeting, which concluded on Friday was chaired by Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, Nihal Rodrigo, Secretary Foreign Affairs chaired the Senior Official Meeting. In order to invigorate the trade and investment activities within the grouping and to establishment of free trade area the participation of commerce ministers was highlighted, during the meetings. The member nations' commerce ministers will meet in Sri Lanka in the first quarter of year 2003. |
