Mahen-Sunil issue compounded

Mahen Ratwatte and Sunil perera have amicably settled the issue over the alleged assault by the former on the latter.

Regarding the unfortunate incident that took place on the night of December 13 at the Hotel Hilton, Mahen with his father, General Anurudha Ratwatte and a mutual friend made a goodwill visit to Sunil's residence on December 16 where Mahen apologised to Sunil.

Sunil has accepted the apology tendered by Mahen in the presence of the members of Sunil's family and those who came to his residence with Mahen."Sunil feels that Mahen has sincere regrets about the unfortunate incident that took place and has no hesitation in accepting the apology. We both feel that it is human to err but divine to forgive."

In the aftermath of the apology, on December 17 evening Sunil made an entry at the Fort police station late (where he has earlier lodged a complaint) that he and Mahen have amicably settled the issue and hence no further legal action is necessary.

Accordingly, the matter now stands compounded.
