Muslim community full of praise for PM's boldness

Sri Lanka Muslim community hails the bold statement made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the National Milad-un-Nabi Celebrations Day, where he said that the September 11, attack in New York could not be connected with Islam.

Prime Minister who was the chief guest at the festival said that Sri Lanka joined the world condemning the terrorist attack in New York, but added that terrorist action could not be connected to Islam.

Mass Communication Minister, Imtiaz Bakeer Markar addressing the members of the All Ceylon Union of Muslim League Youth Front in Colombo said that the Muslim community in the country hails the bold stand taken by the Prime Minister when he said that there was no connection between the terrorist act and Islam. "His statement is not only hailed by the Islamic people and also by all other religions. Added to that the Muslim world is indebted to our Prime Minister", he said.

"Our Prime Minister is the first world leader to have taken such a stand and no other leader has said so up to now. We are also happy to note and we are encouraged when Prime Minister gave an undertaking that there will be equal treatment to all communities and an acceptable solution to the Muslims will be met at the end of the negotiations now in progress", the Minister added.
