TV talk show on Dec. 23

First TV talk show on issues related to peace and the peace process, will be telecast on Rupavahini, in all three languages.

The show will be launched on December 23, which is the first anniversary of the cessation of hostilities between the Government of Sri Lanka and LTTE. The show is aimed at giving people a better understanding of the issues concerning us as a nation. Some of these include the need for a bipartisan approach, federalism, cultural synergies etc. The show will feature a weekly panel discussion with well-known and highly respected members of civil society across different professions.

Dinakara out for the count?

SLFP publication 'Dinakara' which ceased publication will come out again in mid January. It is a temporary stoppage due to financial reasons, PA Media Spokesman Dr. Sarath Amunugama said while addressing, the weekly media gathering.

When questioned about the news of an internal plot to assassinate the President, Dr. Amunugama refused to comment pointing out that the police investigations are still on. (DPL)

'Navodha Lanka' from Dec. 24

'Navodha Lanka', Industrial exhibition and carnival will be held at the Parliament Grounds, Kotte from December 24 to 31, organised with the objective of helping the poor people to attend to their medical expenses. The event is organised by the Association of Ministers' Secretaries with the participation of 62 ministries.

The exhibition is organised with the objective of helping down-trodden people in the country and educating the public about the services rendered by each ministry.

The exhibition with 180 stalls will commence from 3.00 p.m. - 4.30 a.m. daily.

Dr. N. Prasad, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Apollo Hospitals, Colombo, has advised that Baby Mohamed Adhil of 11/14, Naleefa Road, Thotawatta, Panadura, undergo urgent arterial-switch operation with VSD closure. Dr. Prasad says that in view of the baby's symptoms the operation should be performed as early as possible. The cost of the surgery is Rs. 4 lakhs and kind donors are requested to remit their contributions to AC No. 1000 711 44881, Bank of Ceylon, Panadura Branch.
