Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Asia Cup u-15 final today

Shirajiv Sirimane reporting from Dubai ....

Dubai, Dec. 21 - The confident Sri Lanka team will encounter Pakistan in the final of the under 15 Asia Cup cricket tournament at the newly built Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium (Sunday) at 10 a.m. local time. This is the first time that a final is being played on this ground.

The Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathew who is in good form said that he is confident of winning the final. "It is true that we lost to the Pakistan team in our League match but we have now studied the team and know their weaknesses." He said that it was the batting that let them down in their earlier match against Pakistan. "But this factor too has improved."

The coach of the team Sunil Fernando said that the team is improving from each match and said that beating Pakistan team in the final will not be a tall order.

"Openers Sachithra Serasinghe and Sameera Soysa are in form and the middle order led by Angelo Mathew, Shalika Karunanayake and Prabudda Perera too are in good touch. Spinners Rajeev Weerasinghe and Malinda Pushpakumara have been very consistent."

The coach said that the only worry for the Lankans would be the high number of wides that are been sent down. "In almost in all the matches we have bowled around two overs extra and this is not good."

He said that the same team, which beat India by four wickets, is likely to play in the final. Meanwhile the Pakistan team coach Sultan Rana said that Sri Lanka team is improving in each game. "But we have played against them and I am sure we can win once again."

Sri Lanka Under 15-cricket team beat India by 4 wickets to enter the final of the Youth Asia Cup at the Sharjah Stadium on Friday. It was a fine all round performance that brought about this victory for the Sri Lankan team.

India: 177 for 7 wkts in 40 overs (Rajeev Weerasinghe 3 for 30, Malinda Pushpakumara 2 for 35, Angelo Mathew 1 for 32).

Sri Lanka: 178 for 6 wkts in 38.5 overs (Sameera de Soysa 27, Sachithra Serasinghe 34, Angelo Mathew 42, Shalika Karunanayake 45, Prabudda Perera 13 not out).
