Bloomfield beat Galle by 92 runs and takes Kandos Trophy

Bloomfield scored an easy 92-run win over Galle to emerge champions of the Kandos Trophy Limited-Over Cricket Tournament at the SSC Grounds, Maitland Place yesterday.

Bloomfield made 235 for 5 in their allocated 50 overs while Galle managed to get only 143 in 46.2 overs. T. M. Dilshan and Duminda Perera were involved in a splendid 129-run partnership for the fifth wicket for Bloomfield. Dilshan faced 74 deliveries in his knock of 62 which included five boundaries. Perera was unbeaten on 73 off only 60 deliveries also stroking five fours.

Galle failed to make any impression with their top scorer being D. Sudarshana with 39 runs, though later in the innings, Anil Ridigammanagedera (24) and D. Lokunettige (19) making some lefty hits.

Kumar Dharmasena was the most successful bowler claiming 4 for 39 in his 10 overs - two wickets itself coming in his very first over. Bloomfield: 235 for 5 in 50 overs (Tilina Kandambi 27, Ian Daniel 36, Saman Jayantha 19, T. M. Dilshan 62, Duminda Perera not out 73, Anil Ridigammanagedera 2 for 46).

Galle: 143 in 46.2 overs (D. Sudarshana 39, P. Wanasinghe 17, Anil Ridigammanagedera 24, D. Lokunettige 19, Champaka Ramanayake 10, D. Gamage 2 for 17, Kumar Dharmasena 4 for 39).
