Hanging out with guys
and having fun

- Sahan rangana Wijeratne

Bata School Boy Cricketer of the Year* (2002)
This young lad was at the gym when I phoned him from here.
Just nineteen years old
Says, "Cricket is his Life".
A right handed batsman
And bowls something called Offheif.

His highest score is 135.
His school-Prince of Wales.
7/14 against St. Benedicts.
For Moors Club today he plays.

So how did it all start?
He says, he loved cricket from small days,
"My parents sent me for coaching,
In year ten in the under 13 team I played".

From then on young Sahan
Made his way through all the years,
Batting-bowling
Fielding-catching
Sahan climbed up without fear.

On week days-a practising
Weekends-matches playing.
Sahan also works out in the gym
To keep himself fit and trim.

News flash: This report is interrupted to
make a brief announcement.
The Sri Lanka Development Squad (of which Sahan is a member)
will be taking on the England Academy during the month.

Hobbies-he has none
Says, "I don't have any time".
Favourite subject's-Business Studies,
Econ he dislikes.

Embarrassing moments-says he can't remember,
Favourite cricketer's-Azharudeen.
Mahel Ayya's his favourite Lankan,
World Cup 2003-says Lanka will win.

Wiji is his nickname,
Sahan also plays badminton.
English action films he likes
Plus hanging out with the guys and having fun.

What he fears most-girls.
What he looks for in a girl-many things.
She should love cricket-be fair
Supportive and honest with him.

Sahan's ultimate dream
Let me lastly say,
Is to do his best and play for Sri Lanka
One glorious day.
