Lt. Gen. Nambiar ready with HSZ dossier by R. Thurairatnam, Batticaloa corr The former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indian Army Lt. Gen. Satish Nambiar who was on a fact-finding mission to the North and the East on the High Security Zone (HSZ) issue said that he would submit his report in a few days time to the Sri Lankan Government. Gen. Nambiar made this announcement after a meeting he held with the citizen committees in Batticaloa on Friday. The Indian General visited several High security zone areas in the east and was accompanied by the Commander of the Eastern province Major General S. Balasooriya and the Commanding Officer of the 233 Brigade, Colonel Rajitha Silva. Gen. Nambiar soon after his arrival in Batticaloa after his tour of the north visited Kallady, Valaichenai, Morakotanchenai and Commanthurai, the areas come under high security zones. At the end of the day Gen. Nambiar met representatives of Tamil parties EPDP, EPRLF (Varathar wing), PLOTE and various citizen committees. Humanitarian and the security issues were taken into consideration and his report would be released in a few days time. During his visit to the High Security zones he had held discussions with the military officials and civilian representatives. Prior to his departure to North, Gen. Nambiar met senior defence officials and called on the Indian High Commissioner Nirupam Sen in Colombo. |
