CMSC - SLMCC Mc Foil challenge Two of the oldest motoring clubs in the country, the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club have come together with Mc Foil to launch the Mc Foil challenge at the Pannala International Circuit. The Mc Foil Challenge 2003 is a series of three motor racing meets scheduled to be held at the Pannala track in February, May and September this year. Round 1 kicks off on the 22nd and 23rd of February. The racing will cover both motor car and motor cycle events, with 3 motor car and 2 motor cycle events counting towards the championship. In the motor car category, a champion will be drawn from each of the three events - Standard Minis, Group A Cars over 12.0 kg/hp, and Formula Ford 1600cc. The two motor-cycle champions will be decided from the Standard/Modified 125 and Standard/Modified 250cc classes. There will be a full set of support races at each round of the championship. The events for motor cars include Group A 10.0 to 12.0 kg/hp, 8.0 to 10.0 kg/hp, and 6 to 8 kg/hp. Four events for modified cars are up to 1050cc, 1050 to 1350cc, 1350 to 1665cc and over 1665cc. The motor cycle events include events for novices, and a four stroke event. With racing having recommenced at the Pannala track recently, the Mc Foil challenge offers an ideal opportunity for the motor racing enthusiast to enjoy this new purpose built circuit. The combination of the two clubs the CMSC and SLMCC ensures that a smooth days racing will be on the cards for all competitors. Entries are now out for the event, and are available at the CMSC office (No. 4 Hunupitiya Road) and the SLMCC office (5 A, R. A. de Mel Mawatha). Entries close on the 11th of February. |
