New SLMM chief to meet Prabha on Wednesday by R. Thurairatnam The new chief of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Major General Tryggve Tellefsen and his predecessor Maj.Gen. Trond Furuhovede will meet the LTTE chief Veluppillai Prabhakaran and the theoretician of the organisation, Dr. Anton Balasingham on Wednesday, sources said. The new SLMM chief Tellefsen is expected to discuss the issues on the shortcomings of implementing the MoU and also on the problems with regard to the arrests and detention made both by the LTTE and the armed forces, in the north and the east. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the political wing office of the LTTE in Killinochi, where senior political and military leaders of the LTTE are also expected to accompany their leader. The Wednesday's meeting is considered to be the first one of the year by the LTTE chief since the completion of one year of the MoU. The LTTE leader will also bid farewell to the departing SLMM leader Trond Furuhovede sources said. Meanwhile, following the meeting with the LTTE leader the new SLMM chief will also meet the senior officials of the armed forces who serve in the north and the east, sources said. |
