Lankan oarsmen at SAF Games For the first time, the national rowing contingent comprising of 12 members will be participating in the South Asian Federation Games (SAF Games) to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan from 29th of March to 7th April. The selection committee of Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka (ARASL) selected the 12 oarsmen to row in Pakistan after several trials held on the Beira Lake. The team has been submitted for approval from the Ministry of Sports. Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh will compete in rowing - and seven races have been included, Light Weight Fours, Light Weight Double Sculls, Light Weight Sculls, Open Fours, Open Pairs, Open Doubles Sculls and Open Sculls. All races will be 2000 metres and will be in four lane racing. The rowing squad is hard at training under Lakmal Wickramage while Mr. Alavi Mohomed will be the team manager. The Sri Lanka rowing squad to participate at the SAF Games - Diluk Aluwihare, Usman Fatharally, Asiri Abhayaratne, Chanka Talpahewa, Kushantha Jeerasinghe, Devaka Seneviratne, Sanjeewa Perera, Udesh Hettiarachchi, Isuru Perera, Dejan de Zoysa, V. G. N. Shantha, H. M. Amaradasa. |
