Sri Lanka's first Theme park

Ceylinco Theme Parks (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated recently to develop an amusement park which will be located on 60 acres in Ja-Ela. The public would be able to avail themselves of entertainment, amusement and adventure at this location. The land has been obtained on a 99-year lease while the project cost is estimated at around Rs. 1.6 billion.

Chairman Ceylinco Group Lalith Kotelawala, Deputy Chairman Ceylinco Securities and Financial Services Group Bandula Ranaweera and Board of Investment (BoI) Director General Arjuna Mahendran signed the agreement. The project is fully sponsored and approved by the BoI.

Cinema halls, jungle adventures, accommodation facilities for tourists, a pirate ship, children's water playground, karaoke lounge, pub, shops, green houses and a 100-room three star hotel will be some of the features of the park.

"Work on the project is expected to commence in June. We hope to finalise the park within one year of the date of commencement of work", Ranaweera said.
