Made up entirely of airline staff the Musical Society's programme on the three days included performances by two Irish harpists of semi-classical Irish melodies that were attractive in interpretation. The harp has always been an elegant musical instrument and to hear the two young harpists was a delight to the audience. The Musical Society tell us that their performances at St. Patrick Day's Festivities has taken them to countless stops around the world and each stop has resulted in memorable experiences. This is the third time the group has come to Sri Lanka and they go back carrying many happy memories of Sri Lankans and their appreciation of Irish music. The Society has also recorded and released an album "On Wings of Song" which turned out to be quite popular for them and has received airplay on radio and was telecast on Irish television as well. The group hopes that they will be able to renew their friendship again next year. Keeping our fingers crossed! |
