Secretary of the Year 2003 : The banking sector shines Once again it was time to select the best Secretary of the Year and the Sri Lanka Association of Personal Secretaries (SLAPS) conducted a contest which was open to all secretaries in Sri Lanka.
Entries flooded in, in response to an advertisement in the print media and all those who responded were required to sit a written examination in Business Communication, office organisation and Secretarial duties and a viva-voce which included public speaking skills. The panel of judges who interviewed the candidates comprised Thaslim Rahaman, Director Metropolitan Office Ltd, Ananda Warakawe, Director Food & Beverages, Galadari Hotel, and Mrs. Sandra Walgama, Regional Manager Commercial Bank of Ceylon. The results of the contest were announced at the SLAPS seminar held on April 26 at the Galadari Hotel and the following were adjudged winners. Winner - Ms. Trileeshiya Peiris from Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. 1st Runner-Up Ms. Liza Carron from Ernest & Young, and 2nd Runner-Up Ms. Marie Labrooy from Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd.The winners received trophies and an array of gifts with the compliments of Flower Shop, Commercial Bank, Abans Environment, Jetwing Hotels, Aitken Spence Hotels, Readyware Garments Ltd., Broadgate Investments Ltd, Munchee Biscuits, Galle Face Hotel and Grand Oriental Hotel.In addition, the Secretary of the Year 2003 received an air ticket with the compliments of Srilankan Airlines. The Challenge Trophy was presented by the Founder of SLAPS, Eric B.M. de Silva. |
