Mundogas case postponed to August 1 The Directors of Mundogas Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and Central Windpower (Pvt) Ltd appeared in the Kandy Magistrate Court last week pursuant to the summons issued by the Kandy Magistrate on the chairman and directors of these companies on July 18. The Directors, the accused in this case, have been charged under the Code of Intellectual Property and the Penal Code for illegally filling gas into cylinders owned by LAUGFS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Daya Perera PC, appearing on behalf of the accused, submitted to Court that his clients are complying with the Supreme Court order and thereby not engaging in the filling of cylinders owned by LAUGFS Lanka. The Magistrate was unable to read out the charges against the accused as A. Wickramanayake, Chairman Mundogas Lanka and R. Brothers, a Director of Mundogas Lanka and representing the majority shareholder Mundo Gas SA of Hong Kong were not present in Court. Accordingly, the matter was postponed to August 1 for reading of charges against the accused. Lawyers appearing for the accused undertook to ensure that they will be present on the next date. Mr Ameen PC, Jeevantha Jayatilake and Muditha Liyanage, Attorneys-at Law appeared for the complainant company, LAUGFS Lanka. |
