Pilgrims Rest for Sri Lankans visiting Delhi by Don Asoka Wijewardena A Pilgrims Rest that can accommodate around 300 pilgrims with all modern facilities for Sri Lankans visiting India was opened in New Delhi by Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India Mangala Munasinghe recently. Minister of Boddhasasana, Justice, Law Reforms and National Integration, W.J.M.Lokubandara told the "Sunday Observer" that a site to construct well-equipped pilgrims rest for Sri Lankan pilgrims visiting India was given by the late Indira Ghandi's regime and added that the construction work could not be carried out due to various reasons. He said that when he became the Minister of Buddhasasana,he took every possible measure to complete the construction of the pilgrims rest for the convenience of Sri Lankan pilgrims. According to sources at the Ministry of Buddhasasana, the pilgrims rest is located opposite New Delhi railway station and it is being run under the supervision of Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, Mangala Munasinghe. |
