Doctor receives inventor award

Dr. Anil Goonetilleke received an award for his invention of the inhaler to bring relief for Asthma patients at the fifth Presidential and National Awards Ceremony for Inventions which was held at the BMICH, under auspices of the Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Minister Ravi Karunanayake.

The inhaler has already been patented in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the function Minister Karunanayake emphasised that the purpose of the ceremony was to facilitate economic development in the country and the inventions created in the country especially by school students through various programs.

Special awards plus a cash reward of Rs. 50,000 were made to L. W. Chandrasiri Perera for his innovative stringhopper mixer.

Students D. Chamara Sampath and Ruwan Ishara Cooray of Prince of Wales, Moratuwa, received Rs. 15,000 for their wood planing equipment.
