The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPASL) which is considered to be one of the best such bodies in the world celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations began with a Golden Jubilee banquet held on July 18 with the launch of a special Golden Jubilee Souvenir which was presented to Chief Guest, Minister of Lands Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and Guest of Honour, Director General of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Dr Steven W. Sinding by the chief editor of the souvenir Bradman Weerakoon.

The Golden Jubilee banquet was attended by the Patron and President Emeritus of IPPF Ms. Avabai Wadia along with representatives from six regional countries of South Asia namely India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iran and Maldives joined by over 300 local invitees.

The celebration are aimed at appreciating and recognising the services of the FPA's 65,000 volunteer workforce.
