SAP considers training centre in Lanka SAP, which claims to be the world's largest inter-enterprise software company, is looking at opening a software training centre in Sri Lanka to train professionals in the country, SAP's President and Managing Director Indian Subcontinent, Alan Sedghi said. SAP has also appointed Computer System Ltd as its marketing associate in Sri Lanka. "As a leading business software solutions provider, we plan to strengthen commitment and increase our focus in Sri Lanka. The country offers tremendous market potential for enterprise application solutions and is a key market for us in the Asia Pacific. The journey we started in Sri Lanka a few years ago is now in acceleration," he told a news conference in Colombo. "When we started, we enjoyed a 60 per cent market share in India and hope to achieve similar results in Sri Lanka," said Sedghi. SAP earned a revenue of Euro 7.5 billion and a profit of Euro 1.5 billion last year. It increased its market share to 54 per cent in the first quarter of 2003 from 51 per cent in 2002. Sedghi said SAP solutions are now used by more than 19,300 businesses in over 120 countries. It has over 12 million users and 64,500 partners and employs over 29,900 people in more than 50 countries.SAP's Lankan customers include Seylan Bank, Nestle, Sri Lanka Telecom and Bank of Ceylon.
