800-million-rupee telephone exchange commissioned in Sigiriya Colombo, (Lankapuvath) An 800-million-Rupee Telephone Exchange with the capacity to provide 500 new telephone connections was commissioned at Kimbissa in Sigiriya recently. This area had been provided with a radio telephone service all this while. Telecommunications Department told Lanakapuvath that, 120 subscribers have requested new connections. Mass Communications Minister Imitiaz Bakeer Markar officiating at the opening ceremony said that action has been taken to provide every Post Office in the Matale District with telephone facilities. Meanwhile, the Watakelle Power Supply Project was launched recently aimed at lighting up 280 households. It is estimated to cost 4.8 million rupees. |
