McFoil deciding Championships at Katukurunda today Keen racing should be the order of the day when the final round of the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders McFoil Championships will be held today at Katukurunda Circuit from 9 a.m. In the motor cycle racing event, the tussle for top honours will be between the present points leader Damian Gunathilake, Maduranga Caldera, Ruwan Peiris and Feroz Omar. The foursome all stand a chance of clinching the championship title. In Group 'A' over 12 kg/hp class cars, Nishan Wasalathanthri leads the championship race by just three points from Upulwan Serasinghe while Dilshard Hamdoon too is vying for honours. In the Formula Ford Class, there is a keen tussle between three drivers - Romani de Silva with 24 points closely followed by Dinesh Jayawardena 22 points and Rohan de Silva 19 points. Aravinda Premadasa is at the top of Group MNT upto 350 cc class with 50 points, while Dinesh Deheragoda has 40 points, while Nalin de Silva has 35 points and Pradeep Jayawardena 34 points. There's a fine crop of drivers in the supporting events. Yoga Perera, Rizvi Farook, Riyaz Farook, Rohan Wijeratne, Dhammika Peiris, Javid and Ishraq Wahab, Zakie Ismail, Dinesh Jayawardena, Rohith de Silva, Devaka Amarasuriya and Sheran Fernando are some of the other drivers who should figure prominently. |
