Arnold keen on avenging World Cup defeat

NAIROBI Oct 18 (AFP) - Left-hander Russell Arnold will be gunning for revenge when he leads his Sri Lanka "A" side in the first of a five one-day series against Kenya at Nairobi's Ruaraka sports club on Sunday.

"We must win all the five matches after our team lost to Kenya in the World Cup," said the 29-year-old, who was a member of the senior team that was brought crashing down by seven wickets by their hosts in Nairobi last February.

Another national team member in the tour is Nuwan Zoysa.

Kenyan skipper Steve Tikolo said he was keen to face the islanders in their first international cricket series since the World Cup early this year. "They are considered one of the best "A" teams in the world. We are privileged to play them after the long break," said 33-year-old Tikolo, who still rues his team's decision to boycott the Sri Lanka "A" team tour of the country in 2001.

That decision led to the mass dismissal of all the national team players by the Kenya Cricket Association.

Kenya toured Sri Lanka the following year and played three unofficial Test series against the same team and lost all the matches.

Tikolo finished the series with one century and two fifties to become Kenya's highest run scorer of the series.
