The multi-purpose and multi-dimensional aspect of the saree, a piece of fabric that can be draped in innumerable ways, was amply demonstrated at the saree show, "Saree Splendour 2003." Presented at the Hilton Colombo recently by Preethi Fernando of Prenita Fashions, the show brought over 100 sarees to the ramp, including chiffons, georgettes, jacquard tissues, crepes and other fabrics, with pallus, borders and all-over-work in tikkies, tube and kutch work, multi-coloured stones and embroidery. The show was in partnership with Vogue Jewellers, choreographed by Senaka de Silva and styled by Harris Wijesinghe, with hairstyles by Johann Peiris. |
