Award-winning UK DJs Bobby Friction & Nihal

Disc Jockies better known as DJs shake the dance floors all over the world spinning cool tunes not for themselves but for their audience.. They add vigour to the ever so happening entertainment arena and the truth is them DJs are the strong hold of the whole business.

And the toes keep tapping...

Taking a break from the local DJ's we focus on the international music scene where many faces get behind the mike faster than they could say the word `entertainment'.

Bobby Friction and Nihal, two award-winning BBC Radio One DJs will visit Sri Lanka today and their stay will probably be pretty productive since the two will be running a workshop for Radio DJs on November 26 at My Kind Of Place, Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo which will concentrate on working with music beds, jingles, presentation skills, programming and scripts and Radio dos and don'ts.

Catch Bobby and Nihal at 'My Kind Of Place' at Taj Samudra and `Le Garage', Le Kandyan hotel also featuring Iraj n da ILL NOIZE cru with Urban Sounds.

Bobby Friction and Nihal will also be running a workshop for Radio DJs on 26 November at My Kind of Place, Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo, from 12.30 pm to 6.00 p.m. The workshop will concentrate on working with music beds and jingles, presentation skills, programming and scripts, and radio dos & don'ts. Admission is free (limited to 25 participants). Prior registrations accepted on a first-come first-served basis at the British Council's Arts Office open from 9.30 am to 4.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The tour is also being sponsored by SriLankan Airlines, Taj Samudra and Connaissance de Ceylan, Corona, Favourite Ltd, and electronic sponsors - Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Format + and City FM. After only six months at Radio 1 the Bobby and Nihal picked up a prestigious Gold Sony Award for Best Specialist Radio Show this month. Bobby Friction and Nihal Present broadcasts every Saturday night and is an award winning mix of the hottest Asian Beats and Flavas have made them the hottest and most in demand names on the UK scene. Bobby Friction is a DJ/Artist who pioneered the club Kizmit and was a resident DJ at the legendary Swaraj at The Blue Note which showcased new Asian talent and sounds and the equally renowned Shaanti in Birmingham, the first Asian club outside of London which completely redefined the British Asian musical experience. He was the founder member of Ecosanti and is now in the middle of finishing of his debut album under the guise Bobby Friction and The Infiniate Scale. Bobby has also recorded tracks with the Mercury Music Award nominated Black Star Liner, starred in the BBC documentary This England and most recently he has launched his new monthly club night in at The Bridge and Tunnell in Shoreditch called Friktion which takes place on the first Friday of every month. The club is a showcase for breaking new Asian acts, and is described as a Desi and Underground musical mash-up. Bobby has also just finished various remixes with studio partner Infinite Scale, their latest remix was the infectious Bhangra Knights track (from the Peugeot advert) currently riding high in the national charts. Nihal has always worked in the music industry initially as a performer in a band before becoming a highly respected and knowledgeable music plugger with his own business. He is now regularly sought after to make guest appearances on music based shows where he can share his expertise and communicate with the audience in a funny and informative way, most recently he was recently seen presenting the Channel 4 documentary Whitey Blighty. Nihal has fronted his own show, The Drop which was a funky hip hop show filmed for MTV Base. He co-presented The Saturday Show Extra for CBBC Digital which was shown every Saturday morning, a cooler behind the scenes version of The Saturday Show on BBC1 and was a regular host of Top of the Pops Prime. Nihal has co-presented Webwise with Emma B, a live youth and popular culture show for BBC2. He also presented a youth magazine show entitled Hot Links for BBC Choice where he presented reports from The Meltdown Festival, stand up comedy to bar football. In addition to his broadcasting skills Nihal is also an excellent music journalist. He began writing for credible and established Hip Hop Connection, Mixmag and Vox magazines and continued utilising his writing skills by developing the script for The Mix, a popular music show which was commissioned for ITV2. With his funky image Nihal has modelled for the Boxfresh campaign and in the promotional video for 'Mathar' (Outcaste Records). He is a multi talented presenter with a particular passion for music - in his spare time he DJ's at clubs like Momo's, Attica and The Met Bar. He has also promoted acts such as Judge Jules, Mos Def, Beanie Man, and Elton John.
