Working arrangement with UNF : Firm assurance from President President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had been very positive about the ongoing discussions between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and herself and had said that they will be able to come to a working arrangement with the UNF government on major issues which include peace, law and order and free media by December 15. She made these comments when she met the business leaders last Thursday. The President had categorically stated that she will not dissolve parliament and hold an election and had said that she wanted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to continue with the peace process. According to sources there were about 100 business leaders, who were later hosted to a reception. Meanwhile the Joint Business Forum is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister on Monday 24 at 6 pm and President Kumaratunga on Wednesday 27 to discuss the proposed solutions forwarded by the Joint Business Forum. |
